The Resettlement Support Center (RSC) Africa operates the US refugee resettlement program in Sub-Saharan Africa through a Cooperative Agreement with the Department of State/Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration. RSC Africa is responsible for the preparation of refugee case files for adjudication by Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) officers, as well as the out-processing and cultural orientation of all approved cases. RSC is administered by the Church World Service/Immigration and Refugee Program (CWS/IRP) and is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
RSC Africa seeks qualified individuals for the 2013 summer internship program. All internships are a minimum of six and a maximum of eight weeks in duration and are completed between May 15th and August 31, 2013. RSC does not provide airfare or travel assistance but does provide a small living stipend for interns selected from outside of Kenya. Interns selected from within Kenya receive a small transportation allowance.

This position is responsible for the development of standards for childminding activities at CWS/RSC Africa, including hiring qualifications and procedures, expected standards while under contract and supervision. The intern will also develop cultural orientation activities for children in CWS/RSC Africa Cultural Orientation child-minding services. The position reports to the Curriculum Development Specialist and works closely with all members of the Cultural Orientation Department. »
The ESL Instructor Intern is primarily responsible to provide English language instruction to USCIS approved refugees in the Kakuma Refugee Camp. The position reports directly to the ESL Manager and works closely with other members of the Cultural Orientation Department. »
This position is responsible for assisting the IT team with general support and troubleshooting of basic IT needs for RSC staff. The position will directly report to the IT Manager and work closely with the IT Assistants. »
This position is responsible for the development and implementation of an instructional strategy that will support staff of RSC Africa in further strengthening their IT and software skills. The position reports to the IT Manager and works closely with the Curriculum Development Specialist and Data Integrity Coordinator. »
The Predictive Analytics Intern will assist in the development of predictive models of RSC Africa. The intern will work closely with the Reports Analysts and the Data Integrity Coordinator to learn the complexities of the refugee case flow and help develop predictive timelines for each stage of case processing. The position will report directly to the Data Integrity Coordinator. »
This position is responsible for the development and production of the 2013 RSC Africa Report. The Report is a complete overview of the RSC Africa operation and impact. The Publications Development Intern may also assist in writing cultural profiles, backgrounders, and highlights on the refugee populations served by RSC Africa. The position reports to the Public Information Manager. »
This position is responsible for the development and cataloguing of training aids and adapting curriculum activities for individuals with special needs for cultural orientation for the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. The position reports to the Curriculum Development Specialist and works closely with all members of the Cultural Orientation Department. »
